Does your kiddo want to become a Denali National Park Junior Ranger? We can help!!
During Summer 2020, if you visit the Denali Park Visitor's Center you can meet with a Park Ranger to receive your Junior Ranger packet! In our experience, the packets were great for ages 3+. Our three year olds weren't old enough to do the packet on their own but were VERY excited at the thought of earning a Junior Ranger badge.
Your packet includes the Denali National Park and Preserve Junior Ranger Activity Book, a tiny pencil and the Junior Park Ranger Denali pin. Typically, you're supposed to complete the packet and bring it back to earn your badge, but this year they are letting parents be the judge of when the kiddo is an official Junior Park Ranger.
Additionally, when we visited the 2020 Outdoor Denali National Park & Preserve Visitors Center Ranger Kayla was out running a Wilderness Olympics!! It was VERY fun for our kiddos. (Ages 5, 3, 3, 1, 1.). Each stage of the game included pretending to be a Denali Park animal. "Can you hop from blue line to blue line like a hare can?" "Can you try not to blink like an owl?" "Can you run fast like a caribou?"
We were SO glad we stopped in, because although we had a fun hike, I think this was the favorite part of the kid's day!! Ranger Kayla and Emma were attentive, safe, and FUN! We were the only group of kids at that time, but we saw them running the Olympics for a different group of kids earlier.
If you're visiting Denali National Park and have kiddos with you, consider stopping by the Visitor's Center to see if they are running the Wilderness Olympics during your visit! Thanks, Ranger Kayla and Emma for making our Junior Ranger's days!
